CAIRO: The fourth round of the Hosni Mubarak trial began early Wednesday morning. The former president was seen arriving with his Kuwaiti defense team at the Policy Academy in Cairo, which is hosting the trial sessions. Mubarak faces charges of ordering the killing of demonstrators during the January 25 revolution while also facing corruption charges alongside his two sons, Gamal and Alaa. Former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and 6 of his former assistants as well as Hussein Salem, a fugitive businessman, are standing trial for corruption. Mubarak's defense team was allowed to attend the trial after the head of the Court of Appeals, al-Said Abdel Aziz, gave permission to do so. To avoid a repeat of the Monday clashes outside the Police Academy courthouse, Mubarak supporters and family members of the demonstrators that had died during the revolution have been separated by the security forces. One pro-Mubarak group said on Facebook that they would not protest on Wednesday in order to avoid clashes. BM
