A human rights group in Bahrain said a 14-year-old boy was killed after police used force to disperse a protest in the town of Setrah, near the capital Manama. Bahrain Youth for Human Rights group said the boy, Ali Gawad Ahmed, was killed after a tear gas canister went off near him. Ahmed was moved to a hospital for treatment, but died shortly upon his arrival. No other injuries were reported. Anti-regime protests have been sporadic in recent months across Bahrain since March, led by the Shiite majority in the country who demand reforms by the ruling royal Sunni family. Tens of people have been killed when riot police used force to put down the protests. Saudi Arabia has sent military forces to aid the Bahraini police in controlling the protests in what many experts see as a severe interference from the Sunni kingdom against Shiites in the country. Bahrain is also home to the largest American military base in the Middle East. BM
