DUBAI: Australia's captain Lucas Neill is reportedly on his way to the United Arab Emirates club champions Al Jazira on a one-year deal. Sources close to the 33-year-old Socceroos skipper say the deal is likely to be approved and inked in the coming days, The National newspaper reported. He was also reported to be on his way to join the Abu Dhabi-based club. Neill had been part of Turkish giants Galatasaray until his contract expired following last season. He had been linked to a possible move to newly-promoted English Premier League side Queens Park Rangers or the United States' Major League Soccer, but apparently has chosen to make a move to the Middle East. The National's report said the club was also poised to unveil Belgian Franky Vercauteren as new coach. Neill's reported move comes despite his effectively ruling out a move to the Middle East or the A-League at the Asian Cup in January. “Too soon for Australia, too soon for the Middle East,” Neill said at the time.
