Norway and Czech football teams honored the victims of those killed in the Oslo attacks last month during an international friendly match on Wednesday. The massacre in Oslo left 77 people killed and left Norway reeling from the incident, the worst in the country's history since World War II. Players on both teams wore black armbands and held a one-minute moment of silence before kickoff at the Oslo Ullevaal Stadium. It was the first major international sports event held in Norway since the July 22 bombing and shooting rampage by a right-wing extremist. Last month, Anders Behring Breivik detonated a car bomb outside government buildings in Oslo, killing eight people, followed by a massacre at a youth camp on an island outside the capital where he shot dead 69 others. Football, Norwegians believe, can be a unifying force for the country in order to help the country heal. “We are happy to have had the match and it was nice to see the sportsmanship from both sides during this tough time for all of us,” said Norwegian citizen Morten Laansford in Cairo.
