Kenya is forming a task force to look into ways of stabilizing the ongoing telecom price wars in the country in an effort to end the nearly constant battling between operators. The country's top Information official Bitange Ndemo, at a meeting attended by the country's telecom operators, said that a team would be formed in order to manage the country's nascent fiber optic network and develop strategies to help curtail ongoing price battles. “A committee was formed to look at pricing and help manage the cable,” Ndemo began, continuing to say that the new committee would be investigation claims operators have made against Telkom Kenya for incurring massive costs in operation and maintenance throughout the wars. “The government will not continue spending such huge amounts of money on operation and maintenance,” he added, in reference to how the company has built a large user base through debt practices.
