Making air travel popular for Ugandans, Air Uganda and Warid Telecom plan to fly 800 Ugandans to destinations of their choice across East Africa. The move aims at boosting both companies' profiles in the country and promoting air transportation in the country. “We will give out free return air tickets over the next 8 weeks to give Ugandans who have never used air transport before a chance to fly to Nairobi, Dar-es-Salaam, Zanzibar or Kigali,” Air Uganda chief Hugh Fraser said at the launch fo the “Give Wings to Your Dreams” promotion. The promotion will see some 100 Warid users win tickets weekly to fly to their destination of choice before December 15. Warid's Chief Commercial Officer Shailendra Naidu said that the partnership was created in order for both companies to “do something unique” and to promote the telecom operator as price wars in the sector again grip the company. “Customers, who will load airtime worth sh1,000 or more, will automatically qualify for the draw,” he said. Warid currently has some 2.5 million users on its network. BM
