BEIRUT: On a recent afternoon, a curious dog was exploring a grassy area when the ground gave way. In a free fall that seemed to never end, Glider crashed painfully 12 meters below. But rather than land on the ground, he hit a platform between two buildings — another 7 meters in the air. Glider was stranded for four days before concerned neighbors called us. And although they had been throwing him food, it had been 24 hours since they'd last heard a sound from the distressed dog. We rushed to the scene and were relieved to find Glider weak but alive. Scared from the commotion, he quickly squeezed into a hole in the platform, making it nearly impossible to catch him. We set up a trapping cage with food and water to lure the hungry dog out. After a few hours, he settled into it comfortably. But that wasn't the end of Glider's ordeal. Because water had leaked onto the platform, it was too slippery for us to hoist the dog up. On top of that, our 6-meter ladder was too short and the sun was quickly setting. Leaving Glider there for another night wasn't an option. Finally, a Civil Defense Team came to the rescue! Arriving before the sky turned black, they brought the magic ladder that saved Glider. Days after his fearful journey began, he was brought to safety cheerfully licking everyone who helped him. A big thank you goes out to the people who put their own lives at risk to save this innocent soul. BETA
