CAIRO: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit Cairo on March 20-21 for talks on global contribution to Egypt and prospects for the return of Russian citizens to Egyptian resorts, a spokesman was quoted as saying by the Russian Itar-Tass on Thursday. The spokesman said that Lavrov will make a working visit to Egypt and will meet with Field Marshall Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, head of the Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, and Foreign Minister Nabil al-Araby. The meetings will focus on the recent events in the Middle East and North African countries. “The Egyptian leadership seeks to initiate discussions on the development of Russian-Egyptian cooperation on the present stage and for the near-term future, primarily in the fields of trade and economy, and tourism,” said the spokesman. “I believe that we will be able to hope for the return of Russian tourists to the country that many journalists asked about.” Lavrov will also hold a conference with Secretary-General of the Arab League Amr Moussa, to discuss key global and regional issues, along with strengthening Russia's cooperation with the league.
