Western media continue to call Egypt's January 25 revolution an “Internet Revolution” as the use of social media websites such as Twitter were in full force during the 18 days of protests that ousted former President Hosni Mubarak. Now, a publishing house is taking full advantage of the revolution bandwagon by publishing a volume of tweets from the revolution. The book is to be titled “Tweets from Tahrir: Egypt's Revolution as it Unfolded, in the words of the People who made it.” It will be published by OR Books. It will hold only tweets from those following and protesting in Egypt. According to the publisher, it will be a narrative of the revolution through the collection of Twitter postings. “The Twitter accounts of the activists who brought heady days of revolution to Egypt in January and February this year paint an exhilarating picture of an uprising in real-time,” the publishing company said in a statement. “This book brings together a selection of key tweets in a compelling, fast-paced narrative, allowing the story of the uprising to be told directly by the people in Tahrir Square,” the statement said. The volume is to be edited by Egyptian activist Nadie Idle and British journalist Alex Nunns. The pair, the publisher said, has been archiving Tweets from the revolution and will sort through thousands for the volume. BM
