The London School of Economics (LSE) has confirmed plans to create a scholarship fund for Libyan students worth £300,000 (U.S. $486,000). The sum is equivalent to the cash it had previously received from the family of Muammar Gaddafi, Libya's leader, according to the U.K's Telegraph. LSE's announcement came as conservative MP Robert Halfron called on the government to scrutinize donations made to educational institutions, saying some universities had accepted “millions of pounds from Middle Eastern dictatorships.” LSE also said it is investigating claims that Gaddafi's son plagiarized his PhD thesis.
