Morocco: Private aviation company launch According to the Moroccan weekly “Challenge”, Dalia Development Group, a Kuwaiti company, will launch an airline that specializes in renting private jet in Morocco in 2010. Dalia Development Group SA is a holding company of Moroccan law, with a capital of one million dirham that is being increased to 500 million dirham. The service activities of the new company will cover the personal services, luxury vehicles rentals with drivers and the organization and coordination of business groups. Cancor Updates Its Gold Exploration Activities in Algeria Cancor Mines Inc. is pleased to update the exploration activities on its gold properties in Algeria.The current exploration work, which includes geological mapping, has been conducted since November on the North Tirek and In Ouzzal properties. As of today more than 120 trenches have been opened up and over 1200 channel samples have been collected and delivered for initial processing. These samples are in the process of being sent to OMAC laboratories in Ireland. Numerous visible gold specks were observed in the trenches suggesting a high gold potential for these properties. The Company expects to have the assay results by April 2011. Tunisia coastguards step up patrols Italy has criticised Tunisia for not doing enough to stem the flow of people leaving the country since the overthrow of its previous government. Frontex, the European Union's border agency, has said it will send officers to prevent the arrival of more migrants, after around 6,000 arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa earlier this week. BP, after delays, eyes start of Libyan drilling BP Plc (BP.L), recovering from last year's Gulf of Mexico oil spill, plans to begin offshore exploration drilling in Libya by the end of June, later than previously expected. Spokesman Robert Wine said on Thursday that BP expected to drill offshore in Libya in the first half of this year and that work on an onshore well would begin sooner. The company had previously planned to begin offshore drilling in 2010. “We postponed it to do extra checks following the oil spill and also the rig we had lined up we decided wasn't suitable, so we've got another rig,” he said. “Onshore, we've got a rig in place and they are getting ready, so that should get under way shortly.” Sudan official demands Egypt to vacate Halayeb “immediately” A senior official in President Omer Hassan Al-Bashir's government has demanded that the Egyptian army “immediately” cedes control of Halayeb, bringing back to the fore Sudan-Egypt's longstanding territorial dispute over the border region. The Egyptian army seized control of Halayeb region, which occupies an area of land measuring 20,580 square km in the border areas of the Red Sea coast, after relations between the two neighbors plummeted due to the 1995's failed attempt by Islamists allegedly backed by Sudan to assassinate Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak in Addis Ababa. Southern Sudan seeks Nigeria's support The Sudanese Head of Mission to Nigeria Mr. Gabriel Gai Raik, has called for Nigerian assistance for a successful take-off of the Southern Sudan State expected to kick off on July 9th this year. He made the call in Abuja during his visit to the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odein H. Ajumogobia, when he informed him that the state will become effective in July this year and requested Nigeria's assistance towards the gradual take-off of the state.
