Two-thirds of Morocco women face violence: study Nearly 63 percent of Moroccan women have been victims of violence recently and about a quarter of them have been sexually assaulted at least once in their lives, a government study said Monday. Out of nine million women aged 18 to 64 years old, nearly six million were subjected to violent acts during the twelve months that preceded the study conducted between June 2009 and January 2010, the paper said. Algeria sees calm after four days of violent riots Life is gradually returning to normal in Algeria after four days of violence that left five dead and 800 wounded, including 763 police officers, according to figures released by Interior Minister Daho Ould Kablia on Saturday evening. In addition to the three previously reported deaths, a fourth person was shot and killed on Saturday in Tiaret, 340km west of Algiers, while trying to defend his bar against a group of rioters. Tunisia invades, censors Facebook, other accounts Based on reports of users in the country, Tunisian authorities appear to be modifying web pages on the fly to steal usernames and passwords for sites such as Facebook, Google and Yahoo. Unknown parties have subsequently logged onto these sites using these stolen credentials, and used them to delete Facebook groups, pages, and accounts, including Facebook pages administrated by Sofiene Chourabi, a reporter with Al-Tariq al-Jadid, and the account of local online video journalist Haythem El Mekki. Local bloggers have told CPJ that their accounts and pictures of recent protests have been deleted or otherwise compromised. Full story here. Libya to be newest port of call for Crystal Cruises Crystal Cruises today announced plans to have a ship call in Libya this fall — a first for the 22-year-old company. A Crystal spokeswoman says a recent reversal of Libya's longtime ban on American tourists is behind the addition of a Libyan port to the line's schedule. The reversal came following an expanded-trade arrangement between the two countries signed last May. The luxury line says the 1,080-passenger Crystal Serenity will visit the Libyan port of Tripoli during the vessel's 11-night “Italian Splendor” voyage from Venice to Barcelona that begins Nov. 16. Sudanese living in Maine, USA cast referendum ballots Maine is home to one of America's largest Sudanese communities, many of whom are this week traveling, or have already traveled, to Boston to cast their votes in an historic election. About 4,000 Sudanese, mostly from the south, have made their home in Maine.
