Wikileaks: Moroccan royalty corrupt Morocco's royal family is using the institutions of the state to “coerce and solicit bribes” in the country's lucrative real estate sector, according to a leaked report from American diplomats. Information about high-level corruption involving the rulers of Washington's closest ally in north Africa was brought to the attention of the US consulate in Casablanca, Morocco's commercial capital, by a businessman in 2009, leading diplomats to describe “the appalling greed” of those close to King Mohammed VI. US commander praises Algeria for progress in Qaeda fight The US top regional military leader praised Algeria Monday for leading the fight against Islamic militants in the Sahel region of northern Africa and said progress was being made. “This is a regional issue where Algerian land forces have taken the leadership role and it is very impressive the progress that has been made,” said General David Hogg, the commander of the US Africa Command (Africom), at a news conference during a two-day visit. Algeria has led a high-profile military and political push also involving Mauritania, Mali and Niger against militants of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Magreb (AQIM), the regional offshoot of the global terror network. Tunisian Mother's Organization holds meeting in Paris The Tunisian Mothers' Organization (TMO) Chairwoman, Mrs. Saida Agrebi chaired, on Saturday at the Democratic Constitutional Rally (RCD) Co-ordinating Committee premises in Paris, a meeting attended by the committee's secretary-general and members of TMO's 16 sections in the French capital. The meeting focused on the sustained interest that President Ben Ali takes in Tunisians abroad and his keenness to involve them in Tunisia's development process. Libya, Ukraine to Cooperate in Protecting Information The Ukrainian parliament has adopted a law ratifying an agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Libya on the mutual protection of classified information. A total of 315 MPs out of the 422 registered in parliament's session hall on Wednesday voted for the law. The agreement, which was signed in Tripoli, Libya, in May 2009, stipulates the equivalent terms for the levels of classification that are used in Ukraine and Libya, the mechanism for changing or canceling them, procedures for mutually exchanging and working with classified information, and for the settlement of disputed issues. Sudan earns $357 million in oil revenue for October Sudan has generated 357.36 million US dollars in oil revenues for the month of October, the Ministry of Finance and National Economy revealed on Sunday. The under-secretary at the ministry, Mustafa Hawli, said that the share of the semi-autonomous region of South Sudan in oil revenues for October is $140.56 million while that of the national government in Khartoum is $209.41 million.
