LONDON: British Airways (BA) on Monday announced it would launch a cheaper flight to the Moroccan city of Marrakech from London's Gatwick airport. The move is to compete with low-cost carriers who have already started to fly routes to the North African country. Recently, Ryanair – Europe's top budget airline – announced it would add flights to Morocco from a number of European cities. BA believes that this will help them maintain their position in the market. BA will begin flying to Marrakech three times weekly from March 27, 2011, with one-way fares starting from £79.70 including all taxes. “BA offers a real alternative to discerning travellers to Morocco,” said BA UK and Ireland sales and marketing head Richard Tams.
