Morocco shares continue slide
Morocco stocks fall for a third session, with Casablanca's all-share index .MASI dropping 0.6 percent to close at 11,674 points.
The country's biggest property developer, Addoha (ADH.CS: Quote), extends its decline on news of a $340 million capital increase.
“The market followed the losing trend of the two previous (sessions), with Addoha falling on the capital increase scheme,” says Mohamed Slaoui, a trader at Credit du Maroc Capital brokerage.
“There's not much enthusiasm or conviction in the market with low volumes.”
10th session of Yemeni-Algerian Committee to be held in Sana'a
The 10th session of Yemeni-Algerian Joint Ministerial Committee is to be held in Sana'a during July 19-20, the weekly 26 September reported on Thursday.
Informed sources expected in a statement to the 26 September that, during the session, several cooperation documents would be signed between the two countries, including a protocol for cooperation between the Ministries of Justice of Yemen and Algeria, and an executive program for cooperation in tourism field and a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in labor field.
Tunisia: ‘Transgreen' Project to Further Boost Electrical Interconnection With Italy
According to the Tunisian website, “businessnews”, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by thirteen companies with a view to create the “Transgreen” consortium.
Within the framework of the interconnection between the energy networks of the Maghreb and Europe, the project aims at connecting Tunisia and Libya to Italy, Algeria to Spain and Sardinia. It also aims at strengthening the Morocco-EU association agreement.
Libya allows 400 Eritreans to stay
Libya said on Thursday that it has granted some 400 Eritreans permission to stay after human rights group warnings that refugees and asylum seekers among them risked abuse if forcibly repatriated.
“The relevant authorities have begun taking steps to welcome and integrate these clandestine Eritrean immigrants to prevent them being exploited or put in danger by human traffickers,” a foreign ministry statement said.
The ministry said Libya would “ensure them a decent life and access to employment suitable to their professional abilities.”
Qatar National Bank To Expand Branches in Syria, Oman, Sudan
Qatar National Bank SAQ, the Persian Gulf country's biggest bank by assets, plans to increase its branch network in Syria, Oman and Sudan, Chief Executive Officer Shareef Al Emadi told a news conference in Doha today.
The bank will open four new branches in Oman, 15 in Syria and five in Sudan this year, he said. The bank has three branches in Syria, one in Oman and one in Sudan now, he said. The bank has no immediate plans to sell bonds, he said.
