CAIRO: The monthly report by the Center for Information and Decision-making Support of the Egyptian Cabinet said that the general index of the demand for Egyptian labor has increased strongly during May and increased by 37.8 percent while the overall index declined compared to the same period last year. The report attributed the rise to the notable increase witnessed by the demand on Egyptian labor, which jumped by 150 percent compared to the month of April. The indicator of the external demand on Egyptian labor took a different trend, where it decreased by 16.6 percent in May compared to the previous month. The index of the demand for Egyptian labor of those who have a higher education degree did see a rise in May, up by 9.7 percent compared to April. The report said that for Egyptian labor with intermediate qualifications jumped some 210 percent compared to the previous month. The monthly report revealed an increase in overall job opportunities provided by the local development fund last May by 36.2 percent compared to the previous month, while it witnessed a remarkable decline of 38.6 percent compared to May of the year 2009.
