General prosecutor says did not resign, will remain in post

Attorney General Abdel Maguid Mahmoud said on Thursday he did not resign and will remain in his post according to the law of judicial authority, Judge Adel al-Saeed, assistant attorney general, told Aswat Masriya.
President Mohamed Mursi issued a decree earlier today sacking Mahmoud from his post as general prosecutor and appointing his as Egypt's ambassador to the Vatican.
