Armed assailants attacked a police station with live ammunition in Arish during the early hours of Tuesday. Security sources said that assailants opened fire on the building, forcing the police to respond with live ammunition. The assailants escaped during the police's counter-attack and no injuries were reported. Army helicopters hovered above the area in an effort to capture the perpetrators while a security operation will begin shortly to identify their hiding places. Attacks on security forces have noticeably increased in the Sinai Peninsula since the ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi.
