Ministry of Communications: Mobile Prevalence Rate Up to 112.7% by June

Number of mobile subscribers in Egypt reached about 92.44 million by the end of last June, with a prevalence rate of 112.75%, recording an annual growth rate of 20.94%, according to a report issued by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The report also stated that the number of internet subscribers in Egypt hiked 1.27% per month, compared to May, and reached 31.21 million by the end of last June. It also pointed out that 38% of the population have an access to the internet and that the number of land line subscribers amounted to 40.29%, with an annual growth of 6.61%.
On the other hand, the number of mobile subscribers via Broadband Internet reached 90.13%, while the number of subscribers via USB Modem recorded 2.96 million.
Moreover, the number of land line subscribers amounted to 8.65 million, recording an annual decline of about 1%. This number includes 87% subscribers via home telephone, 11% commercial sector and 2% governmental sector.
Concerning the postal sector, the number of offices reached 3793, serving 21.5 thousands people, including 4.74 pensioners. An increase up to 842 has also been detected in the number of remittances in one month, recording an annual growth rate of 22.21 %.
