Egyptian forward Mo Salah to continue treatment programme for injured shoulder in Spain
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 29 - 05 - 2018

Egypt's injured international forward Mohamed Salah is due to continue his treatment programme for his shoulder injury on Tuesday in Spain, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Monday.
"The football association chairman Hani Abo Rida and the national team's doctor will travel to Spain on Wednesday to check on the condition of Mohamed Salah, who will arrive there a day earlier with Liverpool's medical staff to start a rehabilitation program," said a statement on the EFA's official Facebook page.
"Spain was chosen by Liverpool's medical staff to continue the treatment programme that started in England on Sunday," the statement added.
Salah, who scored 44 goals in all competitions for Liverpool this season, was forced off the pitch after hurting his shoulder in the 31st minute in Saturday's UEFA Champions League final in Kiev, following a tackle from Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
Scans revealed that the 25-year-old, who represents Egypt's hopes at the 2018 Russia World Cup – set to start on 14 June – will need three weeks of treatment to recover from sprained ligaments in his shoulder and, therefore would be available for the world most prestigious competition.
Egypt will kick off their World Cup campaign on 15 June in Group A against Uruguay, then face hosts Russia on 19 June. Their final group stage match will be against Saudi Arabia on 25 June.
"Salah will remain in Spain with his doctors until he rejoins Egypt's squad in Cairo ahead of travelling to Russia. The player stressed in a phone call with the technical staff that he is fully determined to return as soon as possible," the statement said.
Last Friday, Egypt held to a 1-1 draw against hosts Kuwait in a friendly game, which is part of the team's final preparatory camp for the World Cup.
On 1 June, Hector Cuper's men will take on Colombia in the Italian city of Bergamo then Belgium in Brussels on 6 June, in the last two warm-up matches.
Late March, Egypt lost to Portugal and Greece in two friendly matches held during their first training camp in Switzerland.
The seven-time African champions have this year reached the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
