Egypt's bill of importing fuel declined by 54.2 percent in January-September 2016 to 30.1 billion pounds (US$1.6 billion) from 65.7 billion pounds at the same period of 2015. In its monthly bulletin of foreign trade, Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) stated that fuel imports recorded 4.1 billion pounds in September 2016 versus 6.3 billion pounds a year earlier, making a 34.8 percent drop. Egypt's imports of crude oil decreased by 63.8 percent in January-September 2016 to 3.7 billion pounds compared to 10.2 billion pounds at the same period of 2015. The bulletin noted that Egyptian imports of petroleum products reached 20 billion pounds during the first nine months of 2016 opposed to 54.5 billion pounds a year earlier, sagging by 63.3 percent. Meanwhile, Egypt's imports of coal and its types hit around 1.3 billion pounds in January-September 2016 versus 991.9 million pounds at the same period of 2015, making a 30.5 percent drop.
