Egypt's detergents exports leap by 57% in 8 months

Egypt's exports of detergents and soap leapt by 57 percent during the first eight months of 2016 to record US$171.23 million compared to US$109.11 million a year earlier.
The latest report released by state's Chemical Export Council (CEC) stated that detergent products seized 8.5 percent of total chemicals exports.
By the end of August 2016, around 10 firms captured 92.3 percent of total detergent exports with exports estimated at US$158.1 million, the report showed.
Middle East Oil Refinery (MIDOR) was largest exporter of detergents in January-August 2016 whose exports estimated at US$64.8 million, getting 41 percent of total exports volume.
Following Midor, Procter and Gamble-Egypt was the second largest exporter whose exports reached US$29.13 million, followed by Galaxy Surfactants-Egypt with exports worth US$25.44 million.
In January-August 2016, exports of Arma Soap and Detergents (ASD) hit US$8.23 million while exports of Henkel Port Said Company reached US$4.9 million.
On other side, the report clarified that ten states captured 75.3 percent of Egypt's total detergents exports by the end of August 2016 with exports worth US$129 million.
Singapore was the largest importer of Egyptian detergents with imports estimated at US$31.2 million, getting 41 percent of the total volume.
Belgium was the second largest importer of Egypt's detergents in January-August 2016 with imports estimated at US$17.1 million followed by China (US$16.7 million), Kenya (US$13.2 million), and Lebanon (US$11.1 million).
