Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil met Wednesday with the new Netherlands Ambassador to Cairo, Laurens Westhoff to discuss the necessity of expanding economic ties between two states. During the meeting, both sides showcased opportunities of boosting Egypt-Netherlands trade exchange as well as projects and investments that businessmen from two states could execute now or in the future. This comes as pursuant to ministry's plan to attract more direct foreign investments to the Egyptian market and open new markets for state's exports. Qabil and Westhoff reviewed investments in Egypt as well as government's plans and policies that target improving business climate. The Dutch side invited Egypt to take part in the training programme organised by Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a number of Arab states including: Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, and Jordan. The programme targets upgrading promotional potentials of commercial representatives in order to enhance mutual trade between Netherlands and those states. Ambassador Westhoff emphasised on Netherlands keenness to deepen economic and investment ties with Egypt since it is considered as one of the important investment destinations in the Middle East and Africa. He hailed the procedures conducted by the Egyptian government about the monetary policies that would make state's economy more attractive to foreign investments within the coming period including Dutch investments.
