Matrouh governorate upgrades Siwa power plant with $5.6mn

Governor of Matrouh, Alaa Abu Zeid inaugurates Saturday Siwa power plant after being upgraded with investment cost of 50 million Egyptian pounds (US$5.6 million).
Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad on the sidelines of the 2nd Annual Date Palm Festival, the governor announced that plant's capacity has been raised to 10MW.
The plant was generating electricity using solar power all day up till 8 p.m. after then Siwa Oasis lays in darkness, thus, the governorate upgraded it to raise the capacity, the governor clarified.
Abu Zaid added that Marsa Matrouh governorate enjoys a lot of touristic and developmental potentials notably the significant handicrafts.
