Egyptian International Cooperation Minister Sahr Nasr went Thursday on a field visit to North Sinai governorate to showcase execution works at some developmental projects implemented there. The minister was received by governor Abdel Fattah Harhour and Head of General Authority for Fish, Resources Development (GAFRD), Hamdi Badeen. Minister's visit comes to discuss major challenges that face citizens in the government. Nasr visited a road project among the framework of Sinai Peninsula development programme in which the ministry participated in providing US$114 million from Saudi Fund for Development (SFD). Saudi King Salman allocated US$1.5 billion for Egypt's Development of Sinai Programme. The minister asserted that developing Sinai is the best way to terminate terrorism, adding that the development programme included around 12 finance agreements with the Saudi SFD in addition to other Arab financial funds. She added that the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) provided US$900 million to establish six seawater desalination plants among the development programme. The minister also visited a number of villages in North Sinai where she met citizens to discuss their needs notably water and sewage. Nasr asserted that the Egyptian government keens on providing North Sinani residents with all necessary needs of water, sewage, and road network. Egyptian international cooperation ministry succeeded in providing a US$200-grant for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) from the Saudi SFD, the minister clarified. A large part of the grant would be dedicated to support projects in Sinai as well as projects that target youth and women.
