IDA discusses building pharmaceuticals complex in Egypt's Beni Suef
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 11 - 08 - 2016

Egyptian Industrial Development Authority (IDA) is currently studying the establishment of a comprehensive industrial complex for pharmaceuticals in Beni Suef governorate.
IDA Head Ismail Gaber met with Beni Suef governor Sherif Habib to review a number of suggested locations on which the complex is set to be built.
The project targets producing pharmaceuticals from medical and aromatic botanicals and would be established on the space of 414 feddans, Gaber stated.
He made these remarks during his visit to the governorate alongside with Executive Director of state's Industrial Modernisation Centre's (IMC), Ahmed Taha and a technical mission from the IDA .
The meeting included outlining major axes of the cooperation protocol which is set to be signed with the governorate, Gaber said.
He added that the meeting also discussed conducting comprehensive study about the project, promoting the complex locally and globally, in addition to providing a mechanism for collecting data necessary to know industry inputs and requirements.
This meeting comes after Trade Minister Tarek Qabil's meeting with governor Habib in which both sides talked over taking serious and quick steps to establish pharmaceuticals factory using medical and aromatic botanicals for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
The set-to-be built project is expected to boost the added value of medical and aromatic botanicals since the governorate seizes 40 percent of Egypt's total exports of those botanicals.
On other side, governor Habib clarified that IMC would cooperate in establishing the project through forming a search team that would focus on collecting data, making comparative studies about production and consumption volumes, and determining specific standards for farmers.
Moreover, Minister Qabil has recently noted that private pharmaceuticals firms are would take part in this study since the project aims at covering Egyptian citizen's needs of medicines. Part of project's production is set to be exported.
