Industry ministry, UNIDO launchs Youth Employment project in Luxor August 11

Egyptian trade and industry ministry is scheduled to launch Youth Employment for Socio-economic Stability in Upper Egypt project on Thursday August 11, 2016 in Luxor governorate .
Trade Minister Tarek Qabil stated Sunday that the project would be implemented in cooperation with United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Japanese government.
The project -that focuses on Luxor governorate- targets diversifying the local economy, increasing the resilience of communities and individuals, and integrating young women and men productively into the economy also to avoid phenomena of radicalization or illegal migration.
It also stimulating private sector growth in priority clusters / value chains and, thus, improving the productivity and competitiveness of youth-led start-ups and micro and small enterprises in targeted sectors.
The project promoting technical, vocational and entrepreneurial skills development for underemployed and unemployed youth and women as well as students for enhanced employability and self-employment opportunities.
Minister Qabil noted that the project targets reaching 1,000 beneficiaries as well as dozens of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and industrial complexes.
The project is expected to boost efficiency of governmental organisations, the minister clarified.
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is the specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability.
