In his speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Friday, presidential candidate Donald Trump said that his opposing candidate from the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton, is the reason behind the problems currently facing the Middle East region, claiming that the "pre-Hilary era was free from the Islamic State". Trump accused Clinton of making the world a less stable place, pointing out that Egypt, Libya, Syria, and Iraq were safer and enjoyed more peace before she was appointed secretary of state by US president Barack Obama. Trump also claimed that Obama regrets his decision to place Clinton in charge of foreign policy. He further added that four years following Clinton, the Islamic State has spread widely across the region and the entire world, and the current situation in the Middle East is worse than ever before. During his speech, Trump said: "Libya is in ruins, and our ambassador and his staff were left helpless to die at the hands of savage killers. Egypt was turned over to the radical Muslim Brotherhood, forcing the military to retake control. Iraq is in chaos. Iran is on the path to nuclear weapons. Syria is engulfed in a civil war and a refugee crisis that now threatens the West." Trump concluded by accusing Clinton of causing destruction, death, terrorism, and weakness, saying that this should not be the American legacy.
