A Dutch trade mission will be visiting Egypt in July to study the most suitable locations to build 100,000 greenhouses in the North African country, Dutch ambassador to Cairo announced Sunday. The greenhouses will be constructed over 40000 feddans. Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr received Saturday the Dutch Ambassador to Cairo, Gerard Steeghs to discuss future joint cooperation areas and priorities. The Egyptian minister expressed her country's willingness to benefit from Netherlands' experiences in the agriculture field, notably greenhouses, in coordination with the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture, given that Netherlands is considered the second largest exporter of agricultural products worldwide. Nasr also reviewed the implementation status of some projects financed by the Netherlands to ensure their conformity with Egyptians' priorities and the government's economic program approved by the parliament. Nasr and Steeghs agreed to overcome any obstacles facing such projects to realise optimum benefit. The Egyptian Minister has highlighted President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's directives to focus on agriculture as a key pillar of national economy. Using greenhouses will preserve the environment, improve standards of living, and achieve agricultural renaissance, thereby enabling Egypt to manage the increasing food requirements, Nasr added.
