EgyptAir flights diverted following Brussels Airport explosions
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 22 - 03 - 2016

State flag carrier, EgyptAir has canceled its flights to Brussels, which was scheduled to depart to Belgium Tuesday at 10:00am Cairo time (08:00 GMT), after the explosions rocked the Belgian capital.
At least 21 people have been killed and many others injured in a series of blasts at Brussels Airport and on the city's subway system.
Flights from Cairo to Brussels will be diverted to other destinations or be cancelled because of the closure of Brussels Zaventem Airport, an official at EgyptAir told Amwal Al Ghad Tuesday.
"We are monitoring the situation in Brussels closely," the official said.
After the explosions, Brussels Airport announced on Twitter that all operations have been suspended until further notice.
Flights and train services in and out of Brussels were also canceled and security precautions were stepped up at travel hubs around Europe after bombings in the Belgian capital's airport and subway system.
Travelers should avoid the airport, which was being evacuated, according to the hub's Twitter feed. The metro, trams and bus lines in Brussels were closed as well.
The high-speed Thalys train that runs between Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam canceled service to the Belgian capital, as did the Eurostar line serving Paris, London and Brussels, according to Twitter feeds from the rail services. One Thalys train en route from Paris to Brussels was turned back to the French capital, according to a Bloomberg News reporter on board.
