Egyptian Home Textile Export Council (HTEC) aims at boosting sector's exports by 25 percent at the end of 2016 to hit 6 billion Egyptian pounds (US$ 766 million), the chairman stated Sunday. Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad Saeed Ahmed said that the exports of the sector have been declined in 2015 by 18 percent to record 4.5 billion pounds. The chairman emphasised on the importance of improving the competitiveness of the Egyptian products through decreasing the cost by boosting the production volume. The rise in production volume could be achieved by upgrading machines and using ones that cope with the global development. Ahmed added that the Egyptian home textile sector owns the potentials and opportunities that qualify it to enter and compete in the international markets notably with the increasing demand on this industry. Chairman Ahmed clarified that HTEC's work strategy is relying on improving home textile industry through upgrading equipments and providing trainings for the labour to increase productivity in addition to rising products' quality.
