Egypt's exports of ready-made garments to the U.S. under the Qualifying Industrial Zones (QIZ) protocol recorded 4.3 billion Egyptian pounds (US$535.7 million) in the first nine months of 2015. Therefore, U.S. captures 54 percent of Egypt's 9-month ready-made garment exports. According to a report issued Sunday by the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), the Egyptian ready-made garment exports steadied by the end of September 2015, to reach 7.8 billion pounds approximately. Meanwhile, exports to the European Union countries stood at 2.2 billion pounds by the end of September 2015; while exports to the Arab world registered 341 million, and to the rest of the world hit 816 million pounds, the report found. Following the U.S., Britain ranked second in the list of Egypt's top importers of ready-made garments in nine months. Britain has imported Egyptian ready-made garments estimated at 671 million pounds. Turkey was in the third place importing Egyptian ready-made garments worth 665 million pounds, followed by Spain with imports worth 502 million pounds. Moreover, the report showed that formal wear topped Egypt's ready-made garment exports, recording 2.8 billion pounds during January-September 2015. Coming second, the informal wear seized exports worth 2.7 billion pounds; while other ready-made clothes reported 1.4 billion pound of exports. Exports of sportswear hit 468 million pounds at end-September 2015, while children's clothing registered 120 million pounds.
