Rosatom to build world's safest, most modern nuclear plant in Belarus
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 13 - 10 - 2015

Russia's state-run atomic energy corporation Rosatom is in the process to build the safest and most modern nuclear power plant in the world in Belarus. The construction of the NPP was discussed at the meeting of the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko with Sergey Kirienko, the CEO of Rosatom.
President Lukashenko said the decision to build a nuclear power plant in Belarus had been made under difficult circumstances, with the memories of the Chernobyl tragedy are still alive among many Belarusians.
"We decided that we were going to build the best NPP in the world, and that we would build it to the highest quality standard, as an example to others", said the Belarusian president.
"The experts we have engaged in this project – not only from Belarus but from all over the world – are coming to the same conclusion that the way this NPP has been constructed is unique," he commented.
"I think that Belarusians will get a beautiful NPP. This will mark a new stage in NPP construction even for Russia, which is a global leader in the peaceful use of nuclear power," Lukashenko said.
Lukashenko highlighted that the construction of nuclear power plant requires involvement of the construction companies, as well as industrial enterprises.
Meanwhile, Rosatom's CEO, Kirienko confirmed that the Belarusian NPP will be, above all, the safest in the world, as well as being will be the most modern Gen III+nuclear power plant. "There's no other power plant like this in the world today – it is the most modern and safest one, where security and the highest quality standards are an absolute priority," he said.
Sergei Kirienko also praised the work of the Belarusian contractors.
"It is a hard work but they have drastically improved in terms of their qualifications and experience," he said. Rosatom's CEO added that the Belarusian construction companies and equipment manufacturers will be in demand for future NPP construction around the world, for Rosatom already has multiple orders.
