Sheikh Zayed City the first to deploy Surveillance Cameras

Sheikh Zayed City, located 38 kilometres (23.6 miles) in the northwest of Cairo downtown, has become the first to place surveillance cameras in 21 sites there, minister of housing Moustafa Madbouly announced Monday.
The minister said the installation of the surveillance cameras had cost 5 million Egyptian pounds (US$655.187).
Earlier in May this year, Egypt's interior ministry referred to preparations to launch a nationwide camera surveillance system to increase its capacity to combat crime and terrorism.
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab announced on May 1st, the creation of a national committee for camera surveillance that would include heads of several divisions from the ministry as well as officials from the general intelligence agency and military.
