Canada plans $50 million Development Assistance for Egypt This year

Canada intends to provide Egypt with US$50 million in development assistance within this year, the Canadian ambassador to Cairo Troy Lulashnyk announced on Thursday.
The Canadian official also referred that the assistance package would come in addition to his country's plans to further incorporate US$10 million to boost security cooperation with Egypt.
For the assistance package, ambassador Lulashnyk said it would encompass US$5 million designed to provide job opportunities for Egyptian youth and US$15 million for women's empowerment programme.
In addition, Canada will inject, as pursuant to the package plan for Egypt, US$10.6 million for vocational and technological training notably for Aswan governorate's residents and US$10 million for basic education and school nutrition programmes.
The Canadian ambassador's remarks were made during a conference to support micro and small facilities held in Egypt on Thursday by the Social Fund for Development (SFD).
Egypt is in the forefront of countries benefiting from aid programs by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
