Three Pro-Morsi Protesters Killed, One Police Officer Injured In Cairo Clashes

Three pro-Morsi protesters were killed and dozens injured in clashes with the police during rallies in the capital on Friday afternoon, a security source told Ahram Online.
According to the security source two protesters were killed in Faysal district and one masked demonstrator, who reportedly possessed explosives, was killed near El-Hawamdeya police station, both in Giza.
According to Al-Ahram Arabic news website, a police Captain was injured during clashes with the demonstrators in Al-Mattaryia square. He was reportedly shot with live ammunition as security forces tried to stop an alleged attempt by protesters to set fire to a gas station.
A total of 100 alleged Muslim Brotherhood members were arrested in eight governorates.
Clashes erupted on Friday between pro-Morsi protesters and security forces in several governorates after supporters of deposed president Mohamed Morsi tried to organise several rallies to commemorate the violent dispersal of a pro-Morsi sit-in in Rabaa Al-Adawiya Square on 14 August last year.
In Giza's Haram district security forces dispersed another rally of pro-Morsi protesters using teargas after chanting anti-police and army chants and blocking Haram Street's traffic.
In Matariya in north Cairo, violent clashes also erupted between hundreds of Morsi loyalists and security forces that had dispersed their rally after Friday prayers.
East Cairo's Ain Shams also witnessed a brief pro-Morsi demo, eventually dispersed by police using teargas, where demonstrators chanted: "El-Sisi is not my president." The dispersal of the protests led to clashes with protesters who began hurling fireworks at security forces.
Several rallies were also reported in Egypt's second largest city of Alexandria. The protests were dispersed by the police and at least four protesters were arrested in the eastern part of the coastal city.
Head of Alexandria's security directorate, police Major-General Amin Ezz El-Din, told Al-Ahram Arabic website that the four arrested were allegedly holding flyers inciting violence against state institutions.
Hundreds also marched in west Alexandria's Al-Amerya district to commemorate the hundreds slain in the sit-in dispersal last year, carrying photos of ousted president Mohamed Morsi as well as banners calling for retribution for the victims.
The pro-Morsi protesters also chanted anti-military slogans, including: "Down with military rule" and "Legitimacy is a red line" as well as "Rabaa is not a square in Nasr City, Rabaa is every square in Egypt."
Six protesters and one policeman were killed on Thursday and dozens arrested as police moved to suppress small-scale demonstrations organised by Islamists across Egyptian cities to mark the anniversary of last year's killings of protesters.
