Qualcomm, Egypt Review Government's Device Manufacturing Strategy

The Egyptian Telecom Ministry met Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL) company in order to discuss the participation of Qualcomm in the manufacturing's strategy which has recently launched by the Ministry .
Moheb Ramsis the Senior Director of business operations for Qualcomm Middle East and Africa said the meeting reviewed the expected role for the global firms and the his company in implementing Electronics manufacturing strategy in Egypt within the coming period.
Ramsis has informed Amwal Al Ghad in an exclusive that his company is cooperating with a numbers of Egyptian manufactures to boost them with Qualcomm's technology and Qualcomm added in locally manufactured products such as cooperation with the Arab Organization for Industrialization,Kharafi Group and Banha Company for Electronic Industries that affiliated to the Ministry of Military Production.
The Ministry launched electronic industry strategy in Egypt which will aim to move through three main axes including electronic industry services, industry systems and the design and development of integrated circuits in the last week.
The strategy is targeting to provide 30.000 job opportunities in manufacturing services until 2020 and to support the inception of 50 firms operating micro-electromechanical systems MEMS field, beside inching the contribution of the electronics industry in GNP of EGP16 billion to around EGP70 billion.
By 2030 it will provide 300.000 job opportunities from the total GNP which up EGP500 billion.
