Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 14 - 12 - 2013

Minister of Trade Mr. Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour has inaugurated the Egyptian Handicrafts Exhibition "Turathna" SFD organizes in cooperation with the Embassy of India in Cairo on Saturday. SFD Managing Director Ms. Ghada Waly and Indian Ambassador to Egypt H.E. Mr. Navdeep Suri will attend the inauguration together with many prominent figures.
Around 9 NGOs will participate in the exhibition and Egyptian handmade products of more than 45 enterprises will be displayed. They will include rugs, carpets, antiques, bags, candles, furnishings, woodwork, leather products, jewelries, pottery, copper crafts and others.
The exhibition aims at offering an assortment of Egyptian handicrafts at competitive prices and opening marketing channels for participants.
"The exhibition comes in line with the SFD strategy for supporting small enterprises and providing marketing services for them," Ms. Waly said. "SFD is keen on reviving the Egyptian handicrafts to help create employment opportunities for wider segments of the youth," She added.
Meanwhile H.E. Mr. Suri stated the exhibition reflects the on-going cooperation between India and Egypt on developing small and medium enterprises, a domain of paramount importance for developing countries.
Earlier, a tripartite agreement was signed among the SFD, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and the World Bank. According to this agreement, SIDBI would give consultancy services and assistance to SFD in establishing credit guarantee mechanisms for micro and small enterprises throughout 3 years.
The exhibition will take place on December 14, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. till 5:00 P.M. at the India House, 19 Mohamed Mazhar Street, Zamalek.
