Sony Shakes Leadership of Mobile Communications
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 04 - 04 - 2012

Sony has been spending an inordinate amount of time lately changing up its leadership, and it has done it again today.
The company today announced that Kunimasa Suzuki has been named president and CEO of Sony Mobile Communications.
Current president and CEO Bert Nordberg will leave his post on May 16 and assume his new position as chairman of the Sony Mobile Communications' board.
Sony's move puts the final touches on its recent buyout of Sony Ericsson, as Nordberg was president and CEO of the former Sony Ericsson, and was widely viewed as the next person to go as Sony tries to reshape its focus and new CEO Kazuo Hirai finds people that he wants to lead each division.
"Kuni has a vast experience in product planning and management in the information technology and mobile product business, as well as experience of cultivating business in emerging markets," Hirai said today in a statement. "He is a strong leader and the right person to oversee Sony Mobile Communications as we establish a new business structure as 'One Sony' intended to reinforce and accelerate our overall business management."
Sony's "One Sony" initiative was announced last month, and centers on the idea that gaming, mobile, and digital imaging will become the "three core pillars" of the company's operation.
As part of that refocusing, Sony announced a host of new executive appointments last month across a wide array of areas; Nordberg's dismissal is the just the latest in that string of moves, as Business Tech stated.
Hirai became Sony CEO on Sunday, as he replaced former chief executive Howard Stringer, who is now serving as the electronics giant's board chairman.
