Jordan extends LNG transport deal with Egypt's Fajr to ensure gas supply continuity

Jordan has extended its agreement for transporting regasified liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Aqaba to power plants and industrial facilities via the main gas network, the energy ministry said on Thursday.
The extension covers the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Jordanian-Egyptian Fajr Natural Gas Company, and Jordan's National Electric Power Company.
The ministry said the previous 10-year deal, signed in 2015, expired as the Energus Eskimo vessel departed Aqaba Port. Gas transport will continue through the Energus Force vessel, currently docked in Aqaba for Egypt's EGAS, or other ships until the new LNG terminal is completed by the end of 2026.
Jordan's National Electric Power Company said the extension adds no new financial obligations, with transport costs applied only during actual operations under the 2004 tariff agreement with Fajr.
