Egypt's Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy met on Monday with Pascal Bréant, Managing Director of TotalEnergies for Egypt and Cyprus, to discuss investment opportunities and regional energy cooperation, the ministry said. Talks focused on potential projects under Egypt's Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG), which offers new oil and gas blocks onshore and offshore. The two sides also discussed joint development of East Mediterranean gas resources and better use of existing infrastructure to support Egypt's ambition of becoming a regional energy hub. Badawy said Egypt supports expanding TotalEnergies' activities in the Eastern Mediterranean and accelerating regional gas projects to boost integration in the natural gas sector. He stressed the importance of attracting fresh investment into both Egyptian and Cypriot acreage while leveraging Egypt's infrastructure. The minister affirmed the government's commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with the French energy group and removing any challenges to further investment. Bréant said TotalEnergies is keen to scale up operations in Egypt, citing its competitive investment climate. He noted the company is focusing on developing untapped discoveries and studying opportunities in open exploration areas. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
