Egypt has officially received the 2025 Aga Khan Award for Architecture for the revival of the historic city of Esna in Luxor, the Ministry of Local Development said on Tuesday. Local Development Minister Manal Awad and Luxor Governor Abdel-Muttalib Amara accepted the award at a ceremony in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The Aga Khan Award, one of the world's most prestigious honours in architecture and sustainable development, named Esna's revitalisation among seven winning projects selected worldwide this year. The award jury, which announced the winners on Sept. 2, said the project was "stimulating a historic urban metabolism to cope with the contemporary challenge of improving human conditions."
