Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met Spain's Ambassador to Cairo Álvaro Iranzo on Monday to discuss expanding cooperation in healthcare and development, the health ministry said. Talks centred on organ transplantation, with Spain offering expertise to train Egyptian doctors through workshops, visits to Spanish centres and knowledge-sharing platforms, particularly on managing patient waiting lists. The two sides also discussed strengthening Egypt's healthcare infrastructure, including equipping hospitals with Spanish technology and fostering private-sector partnerships in pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. They further addressed humanitarian support for Gaza, including the delivery of medicines, deployment of specialised medical teams and provision of equipment for field hospitals.
