Egypt and Bahrain on Wednesday signed eight agreements covering investment, industry, trade, culture, and sustainable development, as Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa oversaw the ceremony. The agreements include a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Aluminium Company of Egypt (Egyptalum) and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) to explore establishing an alumina refinery in Egypt, potentially opening a new avenue for industrial investment. Other accords cover investment promotion, with Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB) signing an MoU to enhance ties. The Egypt Expo and Convention Authority (EECA) and Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB) also signed an MoU for strategic cooperation. Customs collaboration was strengthened through a mutual recognition agreement on the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme between Egypt's Customs Authority and Bahrain Customs Affairs. Cultural and institutional cooperation agreements included an MoU on antiquities and museums between Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities and Bahrain's Authority for Culture and Antiquities, as well as an MoU on competition protection between the Egyptian Competition Authority and Bahrain's Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Finally, Egypt's Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation and Bahrain's Ministry of Sustainable Development signed an MoU on technical cooperation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building in sustainable development.
