Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met on Monday with Sudanese Minister of Minerals Nour El-Daim Taha and Deputy Sudanese Ambassador to Cairo Omar Al-Farouk, to discuss strengthening cooperation in mining and value-added industries. Badawi highlighted the vast natural resources available to both countries and pointed to significant opportunities for collaboration, particularly in mining industries that could enhance the value of Sudan's mineral resources for global export. He also noted that Egypt's petroleum and mining sector is working to establish specialised mining schools and carry out advanced research to support the development of the industry. Taha emphasised Sudan's desire to deepen strategic cooperation with Egypt and make it a gateway for Sudanese mineral resources to international markets, stressing that such integration would elevate the global standing of both countries. He expressed Sudan's interest in benefiting from Egypt's expertise and advanced technologies in the field. The two sides agreed to form joint working groups to exchange ideas and explore cooperation opportunities in the areas of training, expertise, and technology transfer, with a set timeline and mechanism to ensure effective collaboration for the benefit of both nations and the companies involved.
