Egypt, Germany FMs discuss Gaza crisis, Iran nuclear file
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 12 - 06 - 2025

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty discussed with German Foreign Minister Johann Vaddeful the rapid deterioration of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, which has reached famine levels. Abdel-Aty stressed the need for regional and international efforts to secure a ceasefire and called on the international community to put an end to Israel's flagrant crimes in Gaza and the West Bank.
He urged Germany to press Israel to lift restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, warning against the dangers of Israeli settlement policies aimed at undermining the establishment of a Palestinian state. Abdel-Aty also outlined the proposed ceasefire deal, describing it as a practical plan that calls for a 60-day truce, the release of hostages and detainees, and the flow of humanitarian and relief aid.
The minister expressed hope that EU countries would take effective steps during the upcoming informal EU foreign ministers' meeting in Denmark to stop Israeli violations and push Israel to comply with international law and international humanitarian law.
Separately, Abdel-Aty and Vaddeful discussed the Iranian nuclear file. Abdel-Aty stressed the need to resume negotiations to strengthen regional and international security, highlighting the importance of restoring cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency to avoid further tension and instability in the region.
