Sisi extends Hassan Abdalla's term as Egypt's acting central bank governor

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has renewed the mandate of Hassan Abdalla as acting governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) for one year, according to a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette on Monday.
The decision, issued under Decree No. 435 of 2025, extends Abdalla's tenure until Aug. 18, 2026. Abdalla has led the central bank since 2022, steering policy during a foreign currency crunch and International Monetary Fund-backed economic reforms.
