Egypt's Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din Moustafa has expressed interest in partnering with India to transfer and localise advanced technologies, deepen local manufacturing, and exchange technical expertise with Indian firms in related fields. This came during a meeting on Tuesday with Indian Ambassador to Cairo Suresh K. Reddy to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various manufacturing sectors. The minister also invited Indian companies to participate in the EDEX 2025 defence exhibition, scheduled to be held in Egypt from December 1 to 4, 2025 under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Moustafa outlined the manufacturing and technical and technological capabilities of the ministry's subsidiaries, which include industrial companies, a maintenance firm, an IT systems company, a centre for scientific and technological excellence, a construction firm and a training sector — positioning the ministry as a key player in national industry. He also highlighted ongoing cooperation between Helwan Diesel Engines Company (Factory 909) and India's Ashok Leyland in diesel engine production, and between Helwan Machinery and Equipment Company (Factory 999), India's Bajaj Auto and a private partner to produce the environmentally friendly "Qute" vehicle.
