Egypt's Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif met on Sunday with Dutch Ambassador to Egypt Peter Mollema to explore ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the education sector—particularly in technical education—and to discuss prospects for launching new joint educational initiatives. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the sixth edition of the "Egyptians Abroad" conference, held under the slogan "From Everywhere... Egypt Is the Destination." Talks focused on transforming Egypt's technical schools into specialised international institutions, linking graduates with training and employment opportunities in the Dutch labour market, and advancing agricultural education curricula. Both sides also discussed the exchange of institutional and technical expertise across various areas of technical education. Abdel Latif noted that the ministry has been working with several international partners, including Italy, Germany, and Japan, to upgrade the technical education system. A nationwide plan is underway to convert around 1,270 technical schools into applied technology and dual-education institutions, aligning the education model with international standards and quality benchmarks, the minister noted. He added that the ministry is keen to strengthen collaboration with the Netherlands to convert a number of agricultural technical schools into international centres of excellence, benefitting from Dutch expertise in curriculum development, school infrastructure design, and integrated green learning environments.
