Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour on Thursday visited the headquarters of global publishing and data analytics company Elsevier in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Discussions focused on renewing and expanding existing cooperation in areas such as scientific publishing, access to international databases, and integrating artificial intelligence tools into scientific research. He also reviewed current challenges facing the Egyptian Knowledge Index and its future strategy for assessing national research performance. The Egyptian delegation also met with leaders from Elsevier and Eindhoven University of Technology to explore Egypt's potential membership in the International Network of Fourth Generation Universities. The initiative, led by Eindhoven University, aims to transform universities into innovation and entrepreneurship hubs, leveraging advanced technologies—including artificial intelligence—and strengthening global academic collaboration to tackle future challenges.
